A CHOIR from Worcester will be singing in West Malvern to raise money for three mental health organisations.

The concert by Colla Voce on Friday, March 24, has been arranged by Malvern Hills District Council chairman John Raine, who has made mental health the focus of his fund-raising efforts during his year in office. year.

The venue for the concert, billed as Songs from the Shows, is the Elim Arts Centre, West Malvern Road.

The programme includes favourites from musicals including Matilda, Cats, Hairspray, South Pacific, Sister Act, Wicked, Once on This Island, the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Chicago as well as arrangements of a number of other well-loved songs.

Worcester-based Colla Voce formed in 1999 and comprises a group of around fifteen young people who sing together in their spare time and present a series of concerts each year in various venues, including Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall.

As well as a repertoire centring on musical theatre and film, their talented West Malvern-based director and accompanist, David Staiger, has arranged a number of more modern songs, including One Day Like This by Elbow, and Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye.

Net proceeds from the concert will be divided between three mental health support groups, Positive Thoughts, Link Nurseries and Jigsaw.
