A WOMEN'S Institute has raised money for a life-saving defibrillator and installed it at the sports club.

The Hot Peppers branch in Upton raised £500 for the equipment through cake and tea sales, with another £500 coming from the Four Acre Trust.

Members of Hot Peppers unveiled the defibrillator at the rugby club, in Old Street, Upton, on Saturday, February 18.

Gemma Dewson, 34, the president of Hot Peppers Women's Institute, said: "We had a first aid meeting last year and the community first responders came and did life saving skills and showed us how to use a defibrillator.

"Lots of young people use the fields and it's in a central location too. Rowan Thomas installed it for free."

Ms Dewson, who lives in Gardens Walk, Upton, said local residents are pleased to have a third defibrillator in the town.
