THE Friends of Malvern Community Hospital have bought medical equipment worth over £30,000 over the last year.

Among the high-tech items that the Friends have bought for the hospital in Worcester Road, Malvern Link, are an ultrasound scanner for the hospital's x-ray department, which can supply top-quality medical imaging.

Another purchase is a CPM K1 hip and knee machine which is used by staff in the physiotherapy department to treat their patients as this machine pinpoints precise areas for exercise.

And the friends have also bought a digital reminiscence therapy system which helps patients with dementia who have been admitted to the hospital for other medical reasons.

Ann Brennan of the Friends said: "The Friends have had a busy year supporting staff and patients in our local community hospital. Thanks to members and generous supporters, we have been able to purchase over £30,000 worth of medical equipment over the year."

Anyone who wants to find out more about the Friends and their work is welcome to come to their annual general meeting next Friday, March 17, at the hospital at 7pm, with tea and coffee being served from 6.30pm.

Mrs Brennan said: "New supporters and members will be very welcome; please come along and find out more about our work and fundraising activities."
