A RECENTLY expanded community hub is hosting a 'pay what you think it is worth' gig to attract new customers.

'Big name acts' are heading to The Cube, in Albert Road North, Malvern, as part of an updated programme.

Organisers hope to hold gigs on a weekly basis, instead of every month, and have also refurbished the centre's interior.

They expect to sell out tickets for some of the major acts which will perform in the next few months.

Bryn Williams, 44, weekend manager for The Cube, said: "In the past I think we have been guilty of just doing folk stuff.

"Now we want to expand it. A lot of people in Malvern haven't come to The Cube because they don't know what it's like.

"Mumbo Jumbo play on February 11. It's an unusual gig as they are doing a 'pay what you think it is worth' gig.

"We are quite happy for people to come and see it for nothing. Just come and see The Cube and enjoy the band."

Mr Williams said the new schedule also includes more theatre events.

"In the past we may have had one gig a month. Now we are looking at at least a couple of gigs a month," he said.

He added that the centre has new plywood wall coverings which give it a funky and relaxed feel.

The famous electro-folk bank Dreadzone will play at The Cube on Friday, March 17, and organisers expect to sell out the 350 tickets available.

The Cube has also introduced a new breakfast menu.
