A BUSINESSMAN has hit out at his 'pathetic' internet provider after his 11 day internet problems.

The internet supply in Link Top was cut off to Openreach subscribers two weeks ago after a car crashed into the BT green box, and only returned fully on Tuesday (December 6).

Nigel Streeter, 59, of Worcester Road in Malvern runs a publishing company called Calibre Publishing LTD from his home and claimed that the inconsistent connection cost him revenue.

Mr Streeter said: "This (The internet being down) was a concern for a number of reasons but primarily because I run a small publishing company from my home which is entirely internet-based notwithstanding the fact that we were also hoping to take advantage of "Black Friday" online shopping.

"Throughout this time I had to survive by connecting my mobile phone to my computer and rely on a fairly poor 3G signal, which meant it was taking much, much longer to achieve anything and heaven knows how much data."

"We just had to wait until someone pulls a finger out and does the job that we, their customers, have paid them for."

Before the internet was fixed, he had said: "I write to you in the hope that you can bring the curtain down on this quite pathetic example of customer service because you simply could not make this up."

Mr Streeter reported that the internet would come back on for a few hours but then go off again for a long period of time and that he knew two other people in his block of eight flats that were affected.

He added that BT regularly provided a time that the internet would be returned fully only for the deadline not to be met.

He said that BT customer service will speak to him on Monday to discuss compensation.

He added: "It went on, throughout the time, on for a few hours and then off again."

A spokesman for Openreach, a subsidiary of Bt said: "It would appear a vehicle crashed into one of our road-side fibre broadband cabinets.

"Engineers from Openreach, who install and maintain the local network on behalf of all communications providers, had to replace it.

"The work has now been completed and all affected services restored.

"Openreach advises any of your readers still experiencing issues to contact their service provider."

BT were unable to say how many people had been affected.
