MALVERN residents were getting into the festive spirit during a Christmas extravaganza in Barnards Green.

Hundreds turned out for the event which took place on Saturday.

Among the attractions for youngsters this year were a children's magic and puppet show, and a double decker bus full of slides, ropes and a ball pool.

Children could also give their list to Santa in his grotto, before making a Christmas star in a craft activity.

The fun wasn't just for youngsters as various vintage vehicles were put on display, there was a guess the number of balloons in a limousine competition, and a performance from the Malvern Male Voice Choir.

Jane Knowles, who chairs the traders association, said: "We have had another fantastic turnout.

"The event is about traders serving our community, and in return we hope people shop locally this Christmas.

"This isn't our only event - we held a Halloween event and are planning to hold a local history event next year."

More than £12,500 has been raised for good causes in the past and this year's chosen charity was Community Action Malvern Hills - which sees volunteers supporting elderly people to do everyday activities.

Malli Wadge, vice chairman of the friends of Community Action, said: "It is an amazing gesture.

"We always need financial support so we are very grateful."

The charity's website is communityaction.org.uk.
