A RESIDENT’S garden has been flooded by a nearby stream and swans have moved into her garden.

Jenni Lynn Mitchell, who lives in Mill Lane, off New Street, in Upton, says she is ready for the water if it reaches her home.

Ms Mitchell welcomes the return of the swans and says the water has stopped rising.

“We have a pair of swans who come every year so we stock up on swan food as well," she said.

"They are just floating about. I check the tags and only give them swan food. It's lovely when they return.

"We have learned to live with it [the flooding], all of the downstairs is tiled flooring and we can have everything moved in less than half an hour.

“Our sockets are high up the wall so we can still have electricity and we keep plenty of bottled water.

“The steps are our indication of when to start moving furniture, if the water gets to the top step, we have to put furniture on blocks.

“We love the house so have learned to live with it, it has its compensations."

Upton's Mill lane has also been flooded as shown in the pictures Ms Mitchell sent in to the Malvern Gazette.

The town's floodgate was closed on Tuesday, November 22, due to rising water levels.

New Street has also been closed as a result of the flooding, which has been caused by heavy rain.

A flood warning for the River Severn has been issued by the Environment Agency.
