AN ALTERNATIVE Christmas experience is coming to the area this month.

Malvern sisters Eliza Boaz and Vivien Massery have devised a Vintage and Decorative Arts Fair to be held in Colwall.

The sisters aim to create a more unique Christmas experience at the Christmas in the Village event.

Ms Boaz said: "We wanted to create the Christmas we imagine and hope for but rarely find.

"The commercialisation of Christmas often turns what should be a time for family, friends and celebration, into a stressful and painful experience.

"We wanted to offer an alternative by combining our love of artisan design, independent small businesses and Christmas into an event where shoppers can enjoy a totally different Christmas shopping experience."

The event, held at the Colwall Alehouse on Saturday November 12 will include handcrafted gifts, chutneys and jams, embroidery on French linen and locally grown flowers.

Ms Massery added: "Christmas in the Village is a great opportunity to find family and friends the perfect, unique Christmas gift.

"Carefully selected stallholders will be happy to help solve your Christmas shopping dilemmas in the stunning surroundings of the 16th century timber framed Colwall Alehouse.

"With gifts, food, Christmas flowers and wreaths, 'Christmas in the Village' has it covered."

Hand screen prints, children's vintage furniture, contemporary jewellery and ink art are also amongst the attractions.

Tea and cake will be available from nearby Brenda's Bakes, where tales from author Tricia Durdey and music from Worcestershire-based Toby Platt will be heard.

Christmas in the Village will be open at the Colwall Alehouse from 10.30am until 4pm and admission is free.

Parking is available in the car park of St James' Church, WR13 6HE.
