THE leaves are falling rapidly and the squirrels are darting backwards and forwards across the lanes: ‘all signs that autumn is truly here. Next week we’ll be into November!

For all newcomers to the village, we would like to welcome you to the Newcomers Event at the Memorial Hall on Saturday 26 November, 10.30 -11.30am. We would love to meet you and introduce you to the Parish Council, and the chairperson, Jennifer Jones. Also present will be the Hall chairperson, Mike Baines, and Hall committee members. The Memorial Hall is the venue for many of the village activities and leisure groups and you will be able to see ‘what’s on’ in the village.

The Wellington Heath Singers will be doing a spot of singing at this event too, and there will be a display of the Neighbourhood Planning Working Group. Light refreshments will be served. See you there!

Please be sure to diarise Saturday 3 December for the Christmas Fayre, an important event also to take place in the Memorial Hall, and this from 10am – 12noon. There will be loads of lovely goods to buy for Christmas and if you would like a table to sell goods, please speak to Marilyn on 01531 633140. All proceeds go towards a really worthwhile cause: (a WC for the church!).

The Walking Group are planning a day walk in the Twying area next week, led by the intrepid Ted. Meet on Thursday, 9.30am, at the Hall.

And a thought to end with as Hallowe’en approaches: “There is no denying that there is evil in this world but the light will always conquer the darkness.” (Idowu Koyenikan.)

Have a really great week!
