Lansdowne Crescent Methodist Church has had a summer of wonderful celebrations for its 150th Anniversary, including meals, concerts, an exhibition of church life and a sponsored walk of the whole Malvern Hills ridge (see photo of the group on Chase End Hill).

September is the start of a new year for the Methodist church, as it is for the schools. Many of our regular activities will be starting again after a summer break. Cafe Lansdowne is open every Tuesday between 10 and 2, with drinks, snacks, soup and lunch. There are no fixed prices - just come along for a home-cooked meal and pay what you can. You will be sure of a welcome.

From September 13 you could stay on after lunch for the Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship which meets at 2.30. Men and women of any age are welcome, and most weeks there is a guest speaker. Other regular activities include the Art and Crafts Fellowship (Mondays 2 - 4) and Table Tennis (Tuesdays 7.45). If you are lonely or bereaved, the Listening Group (Thursdays 2 - 4) is an informal group where you can chat to others over a cup of tea. If you are musical, we have a choir which practises on Fridays (6.45 -8.00).

Later in September a large group from Lansdowne will be going to stay at Lindors Hotel, for a church “Weekend Away”. This is an opportunity to get to know each other better in the beautiful setting of the Wye Valley. Some will enjoy swimming, walking and croquet while others will stroll in the grounds, learn a new song or try their hand at sketching. A duck race on the stream is planned as well as a concert showing all the varied talents of those attending, and a morning service is held on the Sunday.

On Sunday 25th September Lansdowne will be holding its Harvest Festival. We will be celebrating not only all God’s gifts of food and flowers, but also the talents of all the groups which meet on our premises during the week. Everyone is welcome to come with gifts of fresh produce and non-perishable goods which will be given to the Food Bank. There is an All Age Service at 10.30, and Harvest Songs of Praise at 6.30.
