A PAIR of teenage boys were robbed by youths while riding their bicycles through the Diglis Basin area of Worcester.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Wednesday, August 10, close to Basin Road.

The two victims were cycling towards the city centre when they were stopped by a gang of three teenage boys.

The first victim was assaulted by two of the boys and his bag was taken.

One of these two offenders then took the victim's mountain bike and threw it into the river.

The same individual then threatened the second victim and took his mountain bike, using it to ride away from the scene with the other two in the group.

The gang headed across the canal bridge towards the fountains.

A 16-year-old boy from Worcester has since been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until Saturday, September 3.

A 15-year-old boy from Worcester has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until Tuesday, September 20.

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses to the robbery. Call police on 101 quoting incident reference 537s of Wednesday 10 August with any information.
