WORCESTERSHIRE Animal Rescue Shelter is asking people to dig deep to help care for cats and dogs in need.
The majority of animals in the charity's care need essential vet treatment, include neutering, vaccinating and dental work.
Vet bills at the shelter can be anywhere between £1000 and £3,000 per month, impacting on the charity's day to day finances.
Claire Tregunna, shelter manager, said: "We ensure our animals get all the treatment they require but it means our finances can take a hit where we have a busy month or an influx of animals requiring treatment.
"We ensure all our animals are fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms.
"We also carry out treatment for bad teeth, skin problems, removing lumps and bumps and any other work required.
"It can cost us over £180 to give all the basic treatments of vaccinating, neutering and flea and worm treatment to a dog. It can cost over £120 for a cat.
"This does not take into account any other treatments they may need.
"We receive no funding from the government or lottery and rely solely on donations and the generosity of the general public."
