FIRE crews have had a busy night in Worcestershire as they responded when a car crashed into a tree while police arrested two men in a stolen transit van on the M5.

Incidents overnight included a car crashing into a tree, a fire in a hedge, a fire in a van and two arrests on the M5 after a driver was pulled over at Droitwich in a stolen transit van and no licence.

At around 8.19pm last night fire crews were called to a crash involving a car which had struck a tree and ended up in a ditch at Charity Crescent, Evesham.

A crew from Evesham put out a van fire at Willersley Road, Badsey at 8.58pm.

The next incident was a small fire in a back garden in Pound Bank Road, Malvern at 9.09pm followed by a hedgerow fire at Brampton Road, Ross-on-Wye at midnight.

Central Motorways Police stopped a driver who had no insurance, no tax and no MOT with five passengers in the car.

They also detained a passenger on the M52 (junctions three to four) for immigration offences and stopped a vehicle on the M5 junction 6 (Worcester) and seized the vehicle which was without tax or an MOT.

Yesterday evening the motorway police also stopped a stolen vehicle at junction 5 (Droitwich/Wychbold) which was being driven on false plates.

The driver also had no licence. The car was seized and two people were arrested at the scene.
