RAIL services on the line running through Malvern, Colwall and Ledbury once again face disruption when the latest round of resignalling work begins on Saturday (August 6).

Services linking Worcester Shrub Hill and Droitwich will be suspended until Wednesday, August 10 to allow the work to tale place, and a revised timetable will be put into action, with trains diverted to Foregate Street.

A limited service will still be available between Shrub Hill and Foregate Street, but there will be no rail replacement coaches to and from Shrub Hill.

A reduced timetable will operate between Birmingham and Hereford.

And Great Western services operating on the Cotswold line will be further disrupted because of work being carried out near Oxford to alleviate flooding problems.

Trains will still run from Oxford to Worcester, except between Wednesday and Sunday, August 3 and 7, when they will only run between Hanborough and Worcester.

A limited High Speed Train service will run to and from London Paddington in the early morning and late evening, but will operate

via Cheltenham Spa and Swindon, instead of the usual Oxford route.

The work in the Worcester area is being carried out because parts of the signalling in these areas operate on a unique system that was installed in the 1860s. The planned work includes refurbishing the system to improve performance, paving the way for greater reliability and fewer delays for passengers as part of Network Rail’s railway upgrade plan.

The improvement works will also restrict access to London Midland's train maintenance depot at Shrub Hill, which means there will also be changes in the number of carriages on services in the Worcester and Malvern areas.

Travellers are urged to check nationalrail.co.uk to plan their journeys and to check for any last-minute changes. Information is also available on the London Midland and Great Western websites.
