At our July meeting we welcomed eight guests including Majorie Whiting, our Federation Chairman, to hear Jane Van Zyl, the Operations Director of Breast Cancer Haven tell us about the Charity. The Haven aims to help people with breast cancer benefit from free one-to-one emotional support and complementary therapies that help relieve the side-effects of treatment. The emotional support is also available to the family.

Breast Cancer Haven Worcester, is the fifth and newest Haven, and is located in the new state-of-the-art Breast Unit at Worcester Royal Hospital. It is unusual in that it is the first to be located within a hospital, and if successful, will be the model to be followed by other hospitals.

Other activities this month include a guided tour of Spetchley Park Gardens, followed by lunch at a local pub. Our monthly book clubs, coffee mornings and craft sessions meet as usual. Our work in The Jubilee Fountain Garden has been inspected by The Britain in Bloom Judges and we will know the result in September.

We do not meet in the Village Hall in August, instead we have an annual outing. This year we are visiting Greys Court, near Henley-on-Thames, which is of particular interest to the WI because it was the former home of Lady Brunner, Chairman of the National Federation of WIs from 1951 - 1956. She also founded the Keep Britain Tidy campaign .

Our September meeting will be on Thursday 8th September at 7.30pm in the Malvern Wells Village Hall, when we will enjoy a social evening and buffet. Visitors are always welcome, so do come and learn more about the Wells and Wyche WI!
