FIFTY-SEVEN members had a fascinating day out on July 6 to Coventry Cathedral and Stoneleigh Abbey. The beautiful cathedral, built after the Second World War and opened in 1962, is a centre for hope and reconciliation. The famous tapestry by Graham Sutherland covering the east wall is magnificent, and the colours in the Baptistry Window are quite stunning. There is so much to see. In the afternoon we went on to Stoneleigh Abbey and had a guided tour of this most interesting property, which was once the largest house in Warwickshire. To complete a perfect day, we finished with tea and cake in the vaulted hall.
