THIE year's Welland dog show was a great success, despite a couple of heavy showers during the event.
The show, on Saturday, attracted 72 entries in the formal show classes, with quite a few more dogs taking part in the fun classes.
The classes were judged by Jen Boraston and Joy Clee, who awarded the best in show prize to Paul Maund and his dog Poppy, with Leela Smith and Benji in reserve.
The champion prize for the dog with the most points went to Janet Cullis and Pippa, with Shirley Dobbin and Pippa in reserve place.
The audience were fascinated by the performance of the Pirton Gun Dogs, and the event raised £500, which will go towards the village hall and the church bells fund.
Organiser Mary Roberts said: "It's not the first year that we've held the dog show, but it's the first time it's been combined with the fete, and it was a great success.
"We're grateful to all the sponsors for their generous support of the show."
