RESIDENTS of Malvern are being invited to find out more about Severn Trent's £6 million project to upgrade the town's water supply at a drop-in session next week.

The water company plans to build a brand-new underground water storage reservoir off Cowleigh Road and install three miles of new water pipes linking it to the existing reservoir at Lower Wyche.

The session is on Monday, July 4, at the Cube, Albert Road North, from 4pm to 7pm.

Gareth Mead of Severn Trent said: “To make sure we can continue to serve the community in Malvern for years to come, we need to build additional water pipes and replace an underground storage reservoir. We’re regularly checking our water network across Malvern and believe now is the right time to invest in our infrastructure to make sure we can provide the town with a continuous supply of water.

“This is a big investment for us. We’re spending £6 million and we want to make sure that while we’re working in the area we share our plans with the community. We’d encourage local residents to come along to hear about the work. Everyone is welcome to pop by and meet the team and hear more about the project.”

The work, which will begin in mid-August, will last for approximately 12 months, and will start in Old Hallow and Como Road.

Mr Mead said: “In order to keep everybody safe, we’ll need to close some of the roads while we’re working in them, but more information about this will be available at the drop-in session.

“We know that this work may cause some inconvenience and closing roads will cause disruption for the local community, and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected, and to ask for their patience. This work will help us to keep the water running for our customers in Malvern for many years to come.”
