supporters of Amnesty International will spend a night sleeping in Malvern Priory churchyard to highlight Refugee Week.

The event is on Friday night, June 22, and the aim is to promote understanding of why people seek sanctuary and to mark the contribution by refugees to UK life.

Malvern Hills Amnesty chairman Bob Leverett said: "We are doing this to draw attention to the destitution of refused asylum seekers.

"The campaign highlights the plight of tens of thousands of refused asylum seekers who are forced into poverty, including homelessness, in an attempt to drive them out of the country.
