SUNSHINE, hail, rain, wind and even a few flakes of snow - Worcester experienced four seasons in one day yesterday (Tuesday).

And weather forecasters are warning that the changeable weather is set to last until the weekend when it will, unfortunately, start to get colder.

The return to winter weather is in stark contrast to last year when Worcester basked in temperatures above 20C.

Last year, disappointed families contacted the newspaper who campaigned for the splashpad to be turned on.

However, with temperatures barely reaching the teens and downpours of hail and rain, it would take a very brave soul to step foot into the water feature this year.

Paul Michaelwaite, from netweather.tv, warned that it will be a while before the city could once again bask in warm weather.

"Certainly for the next few days it's getting a bit milder and turning wetter at times with sunny bits in between.

"It is still not going to be especially warm.

"We're going to lose that Arctic flow which has created all these fun and games with the weather.

"The wind comes straight down from the Arctic and with the sun as well it is perfect for creating the kinds of weather we've been seeing.

"We've had just about everything - it's been quite a mix and unsettled.

"In April last year we had a warm spell and it broke 20C for the first time this year in Wales but this has all turned around now.

"However, it is pretty typical April weather. We do get a cool northerly blast."
