A NEW scheme to lend money to people on low incomes has acquired its first client.
The Malvern Hills No Interest Loan Scheme is aimed at people who need to buy essential goods, such as washing machines, cookers and fridges, but who have not got the funds.
Instead of providing cash loans, the scheme works directly with local suppliers to provide the goods directly.
And this week, Richard Isaacs, the chairman of the scheme's trustees, collected a fridge-freezer from Malvern Link-based Express TV Services for the scheme's first client.
Mr Isaacs said: "The aim is to provide an alternative to high-interest lenders, who can keep people trapped in debt for years."
The Malvern Hills No Interest Loan Scheme is based at the CAB office at Malvern Heights, Chequers Close, Enigma Business Park. To book an appointment, contact 07783 899519 or malvernhillsnils@gmail.com.
