THE West Midlands has been voted one of the top three regions in the world to take children.
Worcestershire, along with the rest of the region, is rated above Disney World Florida, Africa's Nairobi National Park (full of lions, giraffe and zebra) and Brittany in France, by Rough Guides.
A spokesman for the travel guidebook company says it has been rated so highly because of the activities the region boasts.
These include Severn Valley Railway, Black County Living Museum, West Midlands Safari Park, Sea World and Worcester's own Commandery and Worcester Cathedral.
The spokesman said: "England’s Midlands are perhaps not the obvious destination for a family holiday in the UK, but the region has tons of great activities for kids.
"You can see big game in the West Midlands Safari Park, visit the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley to go back in time to the 1930s and taste the best chips – fried in beef dripping – you’ll ever have."
The area also beat Puglia, Italy, Romania, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Reserva Monteverde in Costa Rica.
India is apparently the world's best place to take children on holiday.
