PLANS to build 29 houses in the village of Broadwas, near Worcester, have been sent in to Malvern Hills District Council.

Developer Wolverley Homes Ltd wants to build the homes on land between the village primary school and Church Lane.

An application made last year to build 25 home on the same site was withdrawn by Wolverley Homes.

Broadwas and Cotheridge Parish Council recommended that the plan be refused, and a number of local residents also wrote to the district council to object.

Among their objection were that the number of homes proposed was excessive, traffic safety would be compromised by the proposed access on to the A44, and the development would greatly increase the possibility of flooding caused by surface water flowing from the proposed site into Church Lane.

In the latest proposal, nine of the houses are earmarked as affordable housing.
