POLICE spent the day working with students from a Malvern school in a bid to help them stay safe when using the internet.

Officers from Malvern's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) talked to pupils at The Chase School about improving their cyber safety as part of Safer Internet Day.

Students each made a pledge to improve the internet as part of the day.

PCSO Helen Carstairs, who is based at The Chase, said: "Safer Internet Day is a collaboration encouraging young people to play their part for a better internet.

"The internet is a great tool if it is used correctly and what we want to do is for people to use it for their advantage for work and to stay connected but to do it safely."

Students were given cyber safety goodie bags, with mouse pads, pens and advice leaflets promoting better use of the internet.
