FREE gym taster sessions have been offered for young people in Malvern between the ages of 11 and 25.

The offer is being made through Sport Dyson Perrins and Sport Martley Leisure Centre, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council.

The sessions will allow young people of all abilities to go and try and centre's newly refurbished gym facilities while encouraging them to be active.

During the sessions the children will be given a full induction by qualified gym instructors, enabling them to use the centre’s cardiovascular equipment, exercise balls, cable machines and machined weights safely. Once the induction is completed participants will then be given the opportunity to work out for free. The taster sessions will be available Monday to Friday between 4pm and 10pm.

On top of this both centres have received funding from the district council's Sportivate programme to introduce a new eight-week membership for young people for just £10.

Once signed up, young people will have access and full use of both centres fitness rooms, exercise classes and tennis sessions. There are also reduced rates on offer for badminton and rock climbing.

“We are delighted to be offering these free taster sessions for young people within our local community,” says Freedom Leisure Centre Manager James Chaplin. “We have a fantastic range of different opportunities on offer at both our centres and this is a great chance for young people to come and try them at a reduced rate. We hope that by introducing this new membership, we can encourage a healthier lifestyle among this age group and show them how fun keeping active can be.”
