A MALVERN hairdressers is doing some festive fundraising throughout December for the town's Lions Club.

Andrew Slater in Worcester Road, Malvern Link is running a charity raffle over the Christmas season for the fourth year running.

Salon owner Mr Slater said: "Lions supports all types of Worcestershire projects and we like the fact that they work in the community, helping local projects and people. Throughout December we invite our clients to buy raffle tickets to support the charity, and over the we years have taken part in lots of events and fundraising for Malvern Lions. In the last five years our staff must have raised more than £4,000 through their efforts."

Lions’ district governor Heather Jeavons, who is a customer at the salon, added: "Support and fundraising by local businesses such as Andrew Slater Hairdressing are vital to our success. Andrew and his team are so willing to help at Christmas time but also throughout the year – a huge thanks to them and their clients.”

Recent fund raising by Malvern Lions includes providing kitchen equipment to a local Scout group and computer equipment to a new youth group based at the Malvern Cube. Malvern Lions also provides support in international emergencies such as the Nepal earthquake by providing emergency water purification units.
