FLU vaccination take up in the region among frontline NHS staff is down on last year.

Latest vaccination figures show 32.4 per cent of frontline healthcare workers in the West Midlands which includes Worcestershire had influenza vaccinations in September and October compared to 36.8 per cent of workers who were vaccinated in the same period in 2014/15.

The figures were published on Thursday by Public Health England (PHE).

So far, 312,000 workers have been vaccinated compared with 340,826 last year.

In the West Midlands region 32,924 vaccines have been given to healthcare workers so far this flu season, which is above the national average.

Flu experts warn that the current decrease is of concern and more workers need to take up the vaccine to help protect themselves and vulnerable patients this winter, to help save lives while keeping NHS services running as normal.
