THE Eastnor Castle Fireworks Competition attracted huge crowds and created some amazing displays, as some of the best firework display teams in the UK went head to head.

It was the fifth time that the Georgian stately home had hosted the event.

Large crowds were expected by the organiser, MLE Pyrotechnics and castle general manager, David Littlewood, and they were not disappointed.

Mr Littlewood said: "It was a very successful event. We've has this event here for several years now and it is always very a popular date on the calendar."

He estimated that it attracted between 3,500 and 5,000 people, although final figures are yet to be released.

Mr Little added: "The crowd voted for the best display by texting."

And the winner on the night was Sonning Fireworks, although all the displays were well-received.

Malvern photographer, Jan Sedlacek, was delighted with the images he took.

He said: "It was a spectacular show on Saturday (September 5). I was thinking long and hard which location to pick for the shoot and spent half of yesterday walking the hills and driving around to find the best viewpoint.

"And I am glad I decided for this one. It was really tricky to capture the fireworks with the surrounding landscape and Eastnor Castle together to get everything exposed correctly.

It seemed almost impossible to achieve it within one single exposure, but after lots of hit and miss shots I have managed to crack it. Four large displays in total gave me enough time to experiment properly."
