YOU may have heard of the Angel of the North, but Malvern now sports in own impressive angel.

The colourful and striking image has been painted onto the back of Malvern Cube, and can be seen from the greens of Hayslan Fields.

Lee Morris, who created the street art with Tom Brown, said they came up with the idea which reflected the belief of Indigo, Star and Rainbow children.

Mr Morris, of Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern, said: "It just happened really.

"We wanted to come up with something that would reflect that ideology.

"It took a long time to do, and the wings were a nightmare to get done, but people seem happy with it once they see it which is always nice to hear."

It was this double act that were behind the paintings of Edward Elgar, which took the town by storm last year when they were painted on a bus shelter by Rose Bank Gardens, in Great Malvern.

The original canvasses of the Elgar paintings were donated to Malvern Town Council, and were sold at auction to help fund community arts in the town.

Jon White, manager of Malvern Cube, says the street art has received a positive reaction.

"People are really impressed with it, and the fact it was done by guys from Malvern helps the Cube have a more community feeling to it.

"There has been a really positive reaction to it. It's really good."

It is created using stencils and spray paint.

The artists will be exhibiting their work at the Iapetus Exhibition, which runs from October 3 until October 17.
