ORGANISERS of the Mathon dog and horse show are looking for sponsors to make this summer's event better than ever.

Although it is not until Saturday, July 7, businesses are wanted to sponsor the event for £40. This includes an advert in the official programme.

The event at Chance's Pitch, Colwall, promises show jumping, more novelty classes, terrier races and a special award for the scruffiest mutt'.

Spokesman Alex Jones said the event, now in its 56th year, was a good fun day out for families and dog or horse owners.

Anyone wishing to enter an animal for a class can do so on the day or in advance at a discount rate.

In 2006, the show raised more than £3,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice. The target is to raise even more for the same cause this year.
