A MALVERN health and beauty salon is organising a special event to give customers a day of sensational pampering while raising funds for a local charity.

Cecily’s salon is putting on “A Day to Tantalise Your Senses” at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford, near Worcester on Sunday August 16 which is in aid of the Megan Baker House Charity.

The doors open at 11 am and there will be a range of stands, demonstrations, a fashion show and barbecue as well as much more.

Owner of Cecily’s Dawn Harford said: “When we hosted our indulgence day at the Bank House Hotel in February, we were approached by the Megan Baker House Charity to organise a similar event to raise funds for them.

“Having seen the amazing work they do, we immediately said yes but I didn’t think it would raise much money with us on our own so the hotel agreed that between us we would make it into a much larger event.

“As well as our demonstrations of pamper treatments, some of which – reflexology, massage, makeovers, spray tans – are also are also available on the day at discounted rates, we will be having a fashion show by Bodega of Worcester and others, demonstrations of yoga, self-defence, talks and live entertainment from the Poppy Sisters, magicians and stalls offering an array of products and services.

“It will be a day when sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing are all catered for.”

Money paid by stallholders for their stand space together with the proceeds of a raffle will be given to the charity.

Megan Baker House, based near Leominster, Herefordshire, offers free conductive education sessions by trained professionals to children and adults with special educational needs and neurological motor disorders including cerebral palsy, head injury, stroke, developmental co-ordination delay and Parkinson’s disease.

It also provides support to families and carers through advice and information, referrals, befriending and mentoring.

Megan Baker House Charity chief executive Lee Gough said: “We help children from across the two counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire to find ways in which they can become as independent as possible. It is free and we have no statutory funding. Events of this nature are fantastic for us and the support of so many stall holders is wonderful. Community support is vital for us.”

Entry to the pampering day costs £5 (to include a drink and something from the barbecue) and tickets can be bought from Megan Baker House, the Bank House Hotel, Cecily’s or Bodega in advance but people can also turn up on the day.
