A MALVERN resident who supported a social media campaign to reduce food waste has been rewarded with an iPad.

Councillor Ian Hopwood, chairman of Worcestershire County Council, awarded Louise Rosoman with her prize on Tuesday.

Social media campaign, Love Food Hate Waste, encouraged members of the public to 'like' the councils campaign page on Facebook and learn about preventing food waste by using leftovers, planning meals in advance and keeping a shopping list.

Entrants had to answer a few questions about food waste with the winning entry being selected at random.

Cllr Hopwood said: "Research shows that, on average, a family throws around £700 worth of perfectly good food into the bin over a year. This campaign was a great way of engaging with our residents and it was a pleasure to meet Mrs Rosoman to thank her for taking part and reducing her food waste."

Mrs Rosomon said: "We always find ways to get involved and found some great recipes and inspiration for using up leftover food. My husband and I were already looking for an iPad, so this has come at just the right time."
