AN owner's quest to find her two stolen dogs has paid off after one was found roaming the streets and the other was bought at a car boot sale.

Jack Russells Scamp and Megan were stolen from Bluebell Farm, near Upton, back in April but have returned home against all the odds.

Five year-old Scamp, Megan's daughter, was picked up by the RSCPA in poor health, roaming country lanes between Cirencester and Stroud, eight and half weeks after her capture.

She was pregnant when she was stolen, but when she was picked up it became clear she had given birth. It is not known what has happened to the puppies.

Megan, 11, was bought at a car boot sale in Cheltenham and was reunited with her family two weeks later.

Both were taken to veterinary surgeries, and it was here they were traced back to Janet Ball, as they were both micro-chipped.

To find her pets, Mrs Ball contacted police forces in the surrounding areas, put our fliers and kept in touch with local authorities.

Mrs Ball, who is in her sixties, said: "They're like family, so I would have never given up trying to find them.

"They seem happy now, but they are a lot less trusting of people than they used to be. When I got the call saying Scamp had been found, and then Megan, it was just unbelievable. It's totally against the odds.

"Scamp was really happy to see Megan come back. When Scamp first came home, she went straight to where they were both taken from- she probably thought Megan was there.

"With each day they are getting back to their old selves.

"It will probably never be known what truly happened to them- it breaks my heart to think of it.

"It's very upsetting not knowing what has happened to the puppies. They could be anywhere.

"The main thing is they're back now and back together."

During her search, Mrs Ball encountered Chalkie - a chitzu and yorkshire terrier cross.

She says he wasn't in the best condition and was being sold for £100. Mrs Ball paid the money for him and took him home to safety.

"When I first met Chalkie, he latched onto me and I couldn't resist him.

"He's now part of the family too."
