THE vexed question of Europe will be on the agenda at a new forum which is meeting for the first time in Malvern on Monday, July 6.

The forum has been set up by two local men, Malcolm Delingpole and Alan Grey, who say that despite their own preference for a UK exit from the European Union, they welcome all political viewpoints at the forum.

Mr Delingpole said: "Sooner or later there will have to be a serious debate about whether we should be in or out of the European Union.

“Accordingly, we feel that people in Malvern should be given a chance to learn the facts and have their say in a forum not connected to any political party or organised pressure group.”

He said that they want to hear both sides of the argument at the forum, as well as providing an environment where those needing to get up to speed on the issue can listen and ask questions.

“We welcome everyone, regardless of party affiliation or view, to join us at the Mount Pleasant at 7pm, for the first of the meetings, which we expect will be monthly."

At the inaugural meeting, Mr Grey will cover the history of the EU and its influence of the UK.

Mr Delingpole said that because the Mount Pleasant is providing the room free, the organisers hope attendees will buy drinks at the bar. Sandwiches will also be provided.

Mr Delingpole stood for Malvern Hills District Council in May's election on the UKIP ticket.
