RESIDENTS and staff of the Albion Lodge Retirement Home in Hanley Swan celebrated its 30th anniversary in style with afternoon tea on the lawn.
Over 100 people enjoyed cakes and sandwiches, as well as the all-important fizz to toast 30 successful years, and played lawn games including croquet and boules.
The guests came from far and wide and included residents' relatives, friends and past members of staff.
Memories of Albion Lodge were brought to life by Rosemary Fisher, who researched the early years of the building, and Colin Darwent recounted its transformation from restaurant to retirement home.
Andrew Darwent, Albion’s care manger, said “I can’t believe it has been 30 years since my father and mother, Colin and Jean Darwent, established Albion Lodge as a retirement home.
"It is due to their desire to create a home where we care for people as we would our own family that has made it such a success. The whole family have taken great pride in all that mum and dad have achieved, and are keen to ensure that it continues to thrive for the next 30 years and beyond."
