ARTISTIC pupils from Eckington C of E First School, Worcester scooped the top prizes at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show, in the annual Children’s Art and Design Poster Competition.

Pupils Maisey Ward, aged 5 and Sebastian Gash aged 9 each won first prize in their age categories. Both received a cash prize of £30 and a goody bag and their school was declared the overall winning school and received a cash prize of £200.

The event was sponsored by Western Power Distribution, and the company's distribution manger, Dave Park-Davies said: “The overall standard of entries was excellent. This is the third year we have sponsored this competition and each year the youngsters manage to delight us with their creative ideas.”

It was a bumper year for Eckington this year as two other pupils also won prizes, with Lottie McGettigan, aged 5 receiving a second prize of £20 and Sam Haines, aged 10, receiving a third prize of £15.

The competition attracted hundreds of entries from young artists across the three counties – Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Hereford.

Pupils were invited to use their skill and imagination to design a painting or drawing illustrating ‘Farming in the Future’.

During the Show, the prize-winning posters were on display on the Western Power Distribution stand, and now the posters will be made into one large poster and displayed at the Showground.
