WOMEN'S rugby world cup winner Natasha Hunt will be the guest of honour at this year's Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards.

Scrum-half Natasha, a key part of the England team which won the world cup against Canada last summer, will address the event being held at Malvern College on Thursday, July 9, to honour the district’s sporting stars.

The 26-year-old teacher played for Malvern early on in her career before joining Bath, Bristol and current club Lichfield.

This year’s awards will feature 13 categories including Volunteer of the Year and Community Project of the Year, but time is running out to make a nomination with the deadline fast approaching on Friday, 29 May.

Ivor Pumfrey, head of community services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are thrilled to yet again provide an opportunity to recognise and celebrate, not just the talent from across the Malvern Hills district, but individuals, teams and clubs who show dedication and commitment to their sport.”

Anyone who knows an individual, team or club who fits into a category and deserves an award should visit www.malvernhills.gov.uk/sports-awards to nominate.

There are still some spaces available for companies and organisations wanting to sponsor a particular award. Email George.wathen@malvernhills.gov.uk or call 01684 862372 for more information.
