FAMILIES in Worcestershire are being invited to find out about a specialist nursing team supporting people affected by dementia.

Members of Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust’s Admiral Nursing team will speak about their work at a free event at the Charles Hastings Education Centre at Worcestershire Royal Hospital on Wednesday, May 20.

Admiral Nurses support families affected by dementia and provide education and consultancy to organisations supporting people with the condition.

Worcestershire Admiral Nurse team leader Helen Springthorpe said: “We offer support at key times in the experience of living with dementia, including diagnosis, when the condition progresses or when difficult decisions need to be made.

“We tailor our intervention to meet the needs of the individual and family.

“The health and well-being needs of the person with dementia and their family are uppermost.”

Chief Admiral Nurse with Dementia UK Hilda Hayo said: “This event is a great opportunity to showcase their specialist knowledge, skills and experience and how they help families to live well with the condition.”

To book a place at the event, which starts at 6pm, call 01905681 425 or email FTOffice@hacw.nhs.uk.
