THE Princess Royal has congratulated a local Army Cadet on his promotion.
Piers Drinkall, aged 18, was promoted to Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Holcroft.
The promotion took place during the Princess Royal’s visit to the area.
Piers is also Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Worcestershire and was accompanying the Lord Lieutenant for the visit.
He is now the most senior cadet in Hereford and Worcester Army Cadet Force. He is hoping to join the Army after finishing his studies.
Colonel Andy Taylor, Commandant of Hereford and Worcester Army Cadet Force, said: “Piers has worked very hard for his promotion and has risen to the top. He is a shining example of how the Army Cadet Force develops the citizens of the future.”
