THE team of 20 young farmers aiming to make a 160 mile journey to Torquay in two days set off on their mission this morning.
At around 7am yesterday (Wednesday, 22) members of Worcestershire Federation of Young Farmers’ Club set off from their headquarters in Hawford, to get the 5km rolling relay journey down the A38 underway.
They are hoping to raise £10,000, to be split between two causes- the neonatal intensive care unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Cancer Research UK.
By the time the group reach Torquay, which is planned to be Friday afternoon, each runner would have amassed 26 miles- equivalent of a full marathon.
Matt Tomkins, chair of Worcestershire Federation of Young Farmers, said on Wednesday afternoon: "We are going quite well.
"It is quite hard work though, I've already done two relays. We're making better time than I thought we would, so we're on course to get there on time."
So far, more than £4,260.00 has been raised for the causes.
