CELTIC were tonight attempting to seal the signature of Coventry City left-back Danny Fox before the 11pm European signing deadline.
New Parkhead boss Tony Mowbray has identified the 23-year-old former England Under-21 star as a solution to the club's long-standing left-back problem.
Fox, who has been valued at around £4million by his club, could well be on his way to Glasgow this evening if a deal can be rushed through.
He has been targeted by several Premiership clubs, whils Mowbray's former club West Brom also expressed a big interest last week.
Fox, who was named in the Championship Team of the Year last season, arrived at Coventry from Walsall in January 2008 and has developed into an excellent attacking full-back.
He started his career at Everton - but could now be Mowbray's third summer signing after the capture of Marc-Antoine Fortune and Landry N'Guemo.
The Celtic manager has to register players with Uefa by 11pm tonight in order for them to be eligible to face Dinamo Moscow in the third Champions League qualifiers on July 29 and August 5.
