THE first of a seies of blue plaques commemorating famous people who were part of Malvern's history was unveiled this week.
The plaque, on the Unicorn Inn, Belle Vue Terrace, commemorates the writer C S Lewis, of Narnia fame.
Lewis went to Malvern College, and subsequently returned to the town many times to walk on the hills with friends, including J R R Tolkien.
These hill-walking expeditions frequently ended with a pint at the Unicorn.
The plaque was unvelied on Monday by George Chesterton, president of Malvern Civic Society, which is organising the plaque scheme. Funding has come from Malvern Hills District Council.
As well as the Narnia books, Lewis wrote many scholarly works of literature, science-fiction novels and books on Christian theology and spirituality.
