DIRECTOR of rugby David Robins was left extremely disappointed after seeing Malvern slip to a 27-23 defeat at Newport on Saturday.

The visitors were left to rue a missed penalty and two unconverted tries that would have turned the result their way.

Robins said: "We have lacked consistency in our place kicking all season and it's very frustrating for the lads when they know they could have shaded the result against a very good side.

"James Hynes had an immense game. His ball-carrying and leadership was outstanding as we turned-over ball and put in some huge drives.

"Having run the number two side close, we now have the daunting task of hosting leaders Kenilworth, with the need to claw back some redress for the heavy defeat there early in the season.

"They have recruited Mike Umaga at stand-off in their push for promotion and they have a back row and back line which will punish any team given the space.

"However, our improvement over the season should see us give them a harder time at Spring Lane."
