THE search is on for candidates to stand for a vacant seat on the board of Malvern Hills Conservators.

The election, to fill the Link ward seat, has been scheduled for Thursday, March 26.

But candidates will have to hurry, because the deadline for nominations is 4pm next Friday (February 27).

The vacancy was previously advertised just before Christmas but no nominations were submitted.

Conservators director Stephen Bound said: "Being a board member requires commitment. There are around 10 meetings a year to attend and Conservators need to develop a knowledge of the hills and commons, an understanding of the Acts of Parliament which govern our work and an appreciation of charity law.

"However, it’s a great opportunity for anyone who would like to get involved in the management of the hills and commons and of this historic organisation."

Candidates for election must either be on the electoral register for, work in or own or rent a property in one of the wards or parishes that pays the Malvern Hills Conservators levy, or have lived in one of these wards/parishes for 12 months before the date of the election.

Mr Bound said: "Anyone meeting the required criteria can stand for election. We are always looking to ensure that we have the right mix of skills and experience on the board. With this in mind we would love to receive nominations for candidates with a financial, human resources, communications or fundraising background.’

Nominations must be made using the official forms, available from 01684 892002 or conservators@malvernhills.org.uk.
