A DELIVERY driver has been filmed reversing a lorry through no entry signs into a busy pedestrianised street, close to where a pensioner was crushed to death by a bin lorry.
The Shoe Zone lorry reverses from the end of the High Street into Broad Street, in Worcester.
The whole episode was captured on video by a shocked onlooker and later posted on social media site Twitter yesterday morning. Sylvia Russell, aged 69, of Dent Close, Worcester, was killed by a bin lorry in The Shambles, in Worcester, on September 29 - also a pedestrian zone. The investigation into her death is still continuing and the driver remains on police bail.
A spokesman for the Safer Roads Partnership said of the lorry reversing: “This end of Broad Street is a ‘no entry’ zone which is clearly marked. There are a number of prohibitions around Broad Street which must be adhered to at all times by motorists. With regards to this individual case, we would advise that the person who took the footage reports the incident to the police so it can be looked into and dealt with accordingly.”
A spokesman for Shoe Zone said: “We are aware of this video and are currently investigating.”
