POLICE are being investigated over the way they handled the missing person report of a man who was eventually found dead in Worcester.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating West Mercia Police over its role in the search for Quentin Woolmer, whose body was discovered on Wednesday, December 3.
Northumbria Police are also being investigated.
Mr Woolmer, 52, had been reported missing from his home in the Dinnington area of Newcastle on Tuesday, December 2.
The investigation will be overseen by IPCC commissioner Carl Gumsley.
He said: “I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to the family of Mr Woolmer and assure them that the actions taken by Northumbria and West Mercia police forces will be examined thoroughly during the course of our investigation.”
