FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze which engulfed eight bales of hay in North Worcestershire today (January 23).

The incident took place near to Marlborough Drive in Stourport at about 11.11am.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Stourport and Bewdley attended the scene.

Firefighters were originally told only one bale of hay was alight but on arrival eight bales were found to be on fire.

The flames took a number of hours to fully extinguish.

A new off-road Land Rover 130 was used to access the land - its first mission in Wyre Forest.

Station commander Robert Sproat tweeted: "Bewdley's new Landrover 130 out on its first shout - fire in open."
