LIFE-SAVING tips to help road-users cope with dark, wet and icy conditions have been published by a rental company.
Northgate Vehicle Hire has developed a six-step guide to safety this winter, which encourages motorists to be extra vigilant with others on the roads, check headlights, watch out for animals, be courteous with a high beam, clean windscreens and stop when tired.
The advice has been developed in partnership with Van Excellence, a safety scheme run by the Freight Transport Association.
Colin Gilstin, group safety and environment manager at Northgate Vehicle Hire, said: “As the nights are drawing in now is the perfect time to remind road-users of the simple steps they can take to avoid accidents this winter.
“It seems absurd that when there are fewer vehicles on the road nearly half of all road collisions occur. By following our six step guide road-users can reduce the risk of an accident.”
