A new signpost in a Droitwich park has been unveiled by two town councillors.

The three-metre high, solid oak sign stands in Vines Park, was officially unveiled by cllrs Andrew and Wendy Dyke.

Cllr Andrew Dyke said: “I could not be more delighted with the new signpost.

"I know visitors to the area will stop and read the information and appreciate the artistry for many years to come.

"Over the years Wendy and I have visited all of the places mentioned on the signpost as we’ve travelled along our wonderful waterway system in our own narrow boat, the Lord Toulouse.”

It was designed and carved by sculptor Tom Harvey, an expert in large scale wood carving who has produced many of the wood sculptures in Wychavon’s parks.

The money to produce the signpost was raised back in 2010, at which time cllr Andrew Dyke was chairman of Wychavon District Council and one of his chosen charities for which he fund raised was the Droitwich Canals Trust.
