A DEVELOPER who has been given permission to build on land at Ryall, near Upton, now wants to build more houses on the site next door.

Builder Taylor Wimpey has already been given approval to build 25 houses in the village, and the latest proposal is for for 31 more homes.

And the company is holding a meeting for local residents next week as part of its public engagement process.

Taylor Wimpey says it will soon be submitting a reserved matters planning application for the 25-home site, dealing with details of the layout, landscaping and housing design. The original outline application was approved by Malvern Hills District Council planners at a meeting in October last year.

And the firm also intends to put in an application for the new site in January next year.

Nick Blake, the chairman of Ripple Parish Council, that covers Holly Green, said: "The local residents were pretty strongly opposed to the original development and I can't imagine it will be very different this time.

"From our point of view, where are the jobs, where are the schools, the surgeries, the infrastructure for all these now houses?

"This all stems from the lack of a South Worcestershire Development Plan, allowing developers carte blanche to build where they want. We have a very nice part of the world here, and some people seem to want to destroy it."

Taylor Wimpey's meeting is in the Wheelhouse Marina Bar at Upton Marina on Wednesday, December 3, from 4pm to 8pm.

A letter sent out to residents said: "Taylor Wimpey is committed to public engagement, and we always try to keep local

communities informed of our proposals.

"Representatives from Taylor Wimpey will be at the event to discuss the proposals, answer any questions and receive your comments. We look forward to welcoming you to the event and to letting you have your say. "

Mr Blake said he expected a strong turn-out at the meeting. He said: "Residents were very critical last time and they will want to make their feelings known again."
